What will your Early Diversity Internship experience lead to? Bring an open mind and the determination to help improve lives, and we’ll support you to start exploring your leadership potential.

If you're interested in a Civil Service career, our award-winning internship is a great way to find out if we're right for you.

With a 5-day placement in a government department, you’ll see what it’s like to be on the Fast Stream Graduate Leadership Development Programme. It’s also a good foundation for applying to our Summer Internship Programme.

What will you experience on the Early Diversity Internship?

You’ll be based in a government department, shadowing a Fast Streamer. This will give you a unique insight into their role, as well as the work and culture of the Civil Service.

    The internship also includes

    • A series of stimulating corporate networking and social events.
    • An assessment survival workshop with all you need to know about applying for graduate vacancies.
    • An allocated Fast Stream buddy.
    • An opening and closing reception attended by high-profile speakers, like Civil Service diversity champions and inspirational external figures.

What we look for in you

    • A real interest in pursuing a Civil Service career.
    • Motivation to make an impact on major policy issues or public service delivery.
    • Team-working skills, creativity, flexibility, and an innovative approach.

    You can apply if

    • You’re a first-year undergraduate.
    • You meet the diversity requirements (ethnic minority, socially or economically disadvantaged or have a disability).
    • You have the right to work in the UK.
