Purpose of the role

The Future Leaders Graduate Programme is a 2-year programme designed to give you the skills, knowledge and experience to become a Project Planner.

As an Assistant Project Planner, you will assist with the development, maintenance and updating of project plans and programmes of work for Railway Signalling projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Support in the development of scope identification
  • Assist in the development of scheduling requirements
  • Create basic WBS for program development
  • Understand periodic drumbeat and reporting requirements
  • Attend Project Update meetings
  • Contribute in the creation and review of project baselines
  • Assist in the periodic schedule updates
  • Prepares planning and scheduling information for reporting
  • Work with the project team to ensure that everyone works in a collaborative, open and honest manner with all stakeholders – liaising regularly with subcontractors, client and any relevant third parties where required.
  • Attend all the relevant Graduate Development Training for your pathway, ensuring the learning gets delivered in the workplace.
  • Complete the Safety Challenge when requested.
  • As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.

Person specification

  • Can collaborate as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of Windows and Microsoft software
  • Minimum 2:2 in chosen Degree
  • Show an interest and drive to be part of the Rail Industry and Colas Rail
  • Work independently and in a team using your own initiative to deliver successful projects
