    DACB’s Health Care and Public Law Team provides legal advice and training to a wide range of organisations operating in the health and social care sector, including NHS Trusts, independent sector providers, charities, commissioners and investors.

    The team is highly rated in Legal 500 and Chambers and recognised as a “very broad range of specialists and all, without exception, first class experts and great to work with”.

    We currently have an opportunity for a Paralegal to join our team, with particular focus on working with our healthcare regulatory lawyer in delivery of advice to clients and management of our client relationships.

    The team plays an important role in DACB’s broader Health practice, which is widely recognised as the leading strategic, commercial and regulatory legal adviser to the health and social care sector in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team and learn from top subject area specialists, whilst also gaining wider experience of working in the legal sector.

    Key responsibilities

    Supporting the local team and the national Health Care and Public Law Team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

    • Acting as a point of contact for clients, responding to their requests and providing a high-level service to clients at all times.
    • Legal research.
    • Letter drafting and correspondence with third parties.
    • Drafting witness statements and other dispute related legal papers.
    • Document and bundle preparation.
    • Demonstrating a good level of financial management and accurate time recording.
    • Supporting marketing and business development activity and contributing to non-fee-earning activity as appropriate, e.g. knowledge sharing, training, assisting and preparing updates for clients and the team, legal research etc.
    • Handling confidential information in line with the firm’s data security protocols.

    Skills knowledge and expertise

    • A strong academic background, including at least a 2:1 degree
    • ~6 months of experience in a relavant role is ideal (although not a pre-requisite)
    • A genuine interest in and willingness to learn about the healthcare sector
    • Attention to detail and a concern for quality
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including good oral and written communication skills
    • An enthusiastic, flexible, self-motivated and committed team player, happy to work on larger matters as part of a team with shared responsibilities
    • Strong organisational skills, together with the ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure
    • IT literate, ideally with Excel proficiency
