    Equans is looking for a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer (Decarbonisation & Energy Solutions) to join our team in London or Manchester. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle, and benefits package.

    The Graduate Electrical Design Engineer will support the Electrical design team in delivering sustainable and energy-efficient solutions across a variety of decarbonisation and retrofit projects.

    This role offers hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, working on low-carbon electrical systems such as solar PV, battery storage, LED lighting, and building power infrastructure.

    Through mentorship and structured development, the graduate will gain technical, commercial, and project delivery skills, working in line with industry standards and best practices, while contributing to the UK's net-zero targets.

    What will you deliver?

    Electrical design engineering

    • Assist in developing electrical system designs across RIBA Stages 2–4 under supervision.
    • Support modelling and analysis of building systems using tools such as IES and Energy Pro.
    • Contribute to preparation of design documentation, specifications, and schematics.
    • Help ensure designs meet relevant standards and client expectations (CIBSE, MCS, PAS 2035).

    Bimcad and coordination

    • Support BIM and CAD activities, ensuring accuracy and consistency of models.
    • Coordinate with design team colleagues to support integrated design delivery.
    • Participate in design coordination meetings, capturing minutes and follow-up actions.

    Learning and development

    • Attend technical and project meetings to gain exposure to real-world engineering challenges.
    • Engage in structured learning activities and CPD.
    • Shadow more senior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.

    Project involvement

    • Support the team in preparing reports and calculations for planning, procurement, and delivery.
    • Undertake site visits to understand practical design considerations and commissioning.
    • Assist with data analysis and technical research to support business cases and proposals.

    Team contribution

    • Actively participate in collaborative team discussions and workshops.
    • Support administrative and quality processes within the design workflow.
    • Display a positive, solutions-oriented attitude and willingness to learn

    Who are you?

    Experience

    • Relevant academic project experience or placement/internship in electrical or building services design is desirable.
    • Exposure to HVAC, heat pump technologies, or energy efficiency concepts is a plus.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
    • Commitment to working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with CIBSE or IMechE.
    • Willingness to pursue Retrofit Designer Certification (support provided).
