The role
This internship with AJG has been designed for the Corporate Intern to complete a robust training programme, thereby learning to effectively service client accounts in line with company procedure. By shadowing Account Handlers and other members of the AJG Team, the Graduate Trainee Account Handler will gain skills and knowledge of insurance contracts.
How you'll make an impact
- Arrange insurance/reinsurance contracts as applicable: create and send new business proposals, prepare quotes/placements, obtain insurance on appropriate terms, price and with suitable insurers to meet client responsibilities, review contracts, maintain records, effect amendments, create and amend wordings
- Support the business: request new client and assured using appropriate company system/process; prepare documentation to support the placing of insurance contracts; send Evidence of Cover (EoC)/debit note/addendum and certificate to client; check to ensure all correspondence between Insurer and Client is retained on appropriate files; produce, review and check all documentation ensuring client requirements are met; ensure receipt of funds due to meet settlement terms; resolve any technical underwriting, bureaux and accounting queries; de-broke file following amendments
- Retain business: initiate and prepare renewal and collate client history ensuring all client documentation is issued in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensure that all statutory regulations and company procedures are followed to protect clients, colleagues and the business interests of the company: adhere to the Operating Procedures Manual (OPM); highlight specifics of policy warranties, terms and conditions to clients; input Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) accurately ensuring they meet or exceed the minimum standard; contribute to a successful audit score; Nil E&O’s; demonstrate Financial Services Authority (FSA) awareness
- Demonstrate technical competency of general (re)insurance principles and practices: show knowledge and understanding of the (re)insurance market, the basic (re)insurance principles and the ability to apply them in the day to day activities; demonstrate a good understanding and application of common terminology and context in day-to-day activities
- Understand the client: actively seek to understand the issues and concerns of the client, as well as market in which the client operates; respond effectively to client requirements and acquire feedback from clients
