In the 12-month Materials Planner Placement, team are responsible for accurate & efficient material throughput in support of the manufacturing cells, engineering & our external customers in both the civil & military markets.

Roles and responsibilities

In the 12-months Materials Placement, strong emphasis is placed on ensuring world class standards of material flow, storage, accuracy & quality.

Working in the 13-week window the Materials Placement student will work alongside cross-functional stakeholders to solve problems to deliver on time to our customers and will be integral in setting and executing the Production Plan in combination with effective material presentation & control. Some of the responsibilities may include:

  • Attend daily operating rhythms to ensure cell material position clarity.
  • Use planning methods to execute in line with Production Plan.
  • Review material position and drive supply-chain to deliver in line with customer requirements.
  • Apply problem solving skills to overcome cell queries and provide swift resolutions.
  • Drive improvements through standard WIP analysis and lead time analysis
  • Assist other coaches and leadership with process improvements to develop performance of local team and the wider manufacturing workshop.
  • Work cross functionally to balance supply and demand to internal and external customers
  • Ability to balance a range of critical KPI’s to drive the right outcomes for the customer and business
  • Support leadership on process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns, reduce manufacturing losses, and develop world-class material presentation.
  • Deliver on personal goals agreed with leadership relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

You will be guided by structured goals and objectives and will have responsibility to deliver on inspiring projects supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will guide you throughout the year to ensure you make the best of your GE Aerospace experience. Your People Leader will offer coaching and mentoring, and you will be provided with the opportunity to connect with other placement students across the UK.

About you

Qualifications & requirements

  • Currently studying or recently achieved a bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • On course or achieved a 2:1 degree

Useful information

  • All placements are available to students and recent graduates who can start a placement between June to August 2024, for a duration of 12 months.
  • Application deadline is 31st December 2023. However, we review applications on a rolling basis and encourage you to apply ASAP. Vacancies will close once filled.

Security clearance

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. Please note that in the event that BPSS clearance cannot be obtained, you may not be eligible for the role and/or any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security.
