    The role

    As a global company that works with both local businesses and consumers, Groupon has a wealth of data, which is tucked away in our databases, service tools and analytics. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will oversee the full life-cycle of back-end development of Groupon's data pipelines, data sources, analytical tools and ETL tools.

    By collaborating with data analysts and scientists, product managers, and data engineering teams, our Data Warehouse Engineers avail meaningful data and analytical products for the business and enable consistently informed management decisions to drive the business forward.

    You’ll spend time on the following

    • Perfect best practices for data visualization design, workflow optimization, ETL, documentation and analyst’s tools
    • Enabling analysts through education of technical and soft skills
    • Growing a community spirit within analytics throughout Groupon
    • Identifying, collaborating and developing dashboards in internal consulting efforts
    • Collaborating and developing / maintaining data tools
    • Mentoring and collaborating with analysts and engineers
    • Drive the discussion and decisions of topics related to data visualization, analyst’s tools, data, education and optimizing the processes of analysts at Groupon
    • Creative problem solving with analysts and engineers

    We’re excited about you if you have

    • Proficient in SQL and using databases for data retrieval such as Snowflake, Dremio, Teradata, Hive, Tableau, ETL tools, data lakes, Exasol, Postgres, MySQL, BigQuery
    • Skilled in Tableau or an equivalent data visualization tool where you can bring across the concepts
    • Tableau Server knowledge
    • Excellent knowledge of data visualization design
    • Good communication and collaboration skills
    • A drive to learn new things
    • You have hands-on experience with designing, developing, testing, and implementing ETL solutions
    • Working knowledge of AWS or an equivalent cloud infrastructure
    • You have a solid understanding of Agile methodologies, metadata
    • You take pride in producing high-quality documentation
    • You can juggle multiple projects in a dynamic work environment
    • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
    • Take responsibility for performance tuning
    • Working knowledge on Linux/Unix Operating systems
    • Seeking and demonstrating best practices
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
