We invite applications for the post of research assistant/associate in strategy and sustainable business model. This research primarily focuses on the sustainable business model of startups located in Scotland. We welcome candidates interested in strategy, sustainable management, innovation management, entrepreneurship, or business development studies.

The role

Key responsibilities pertaining the role include conducting a literature review, gathering and analysing data, and present in internal meetings. Priority will be given to applicants who have a strong training in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies. The applicant will be expected to interact with external stakeholders.

The post holder will be located in Edinburgh campus and will work closely with Edinburgh Business School team.

We are open to considering part-time, full-time, and flexible working patterns. Appointment at research associate level is dependent on having a PhD.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

  • Undertake supervised research by conducting field work.
  • Conduct literature and database searches.
  • Maintain written records of research results and progress and data analysis.
  • Contribute to the production of research reports and publications.
  • Present information on research progress at internal group meetings.
  • Analyse and interpret the results of own research and generate original ideas based on outcomes.
  • Carry out tasks that require the learning of certain skills.

Education, qualifications and experience

Essential criteria:

  • MSc (or enrolment in a graduate program) in strategic management, sustainable management, innovation management, entrepreneurship, business studies or related field
  • Familiarity with research methodologies
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in team

Desirable criteria:

  • PhD degree (or enrolment in a graduate program) in strategy, sustainable management, innovation management, business, entrepreneurship, or related social sciences discipline is a plus
  • Experience in data collection and analysis using primary and secondary data sources
  • Experience of writing reports and delivering presentations
  • Experience of interacting with external stakeholders from industry and/or public institutions
  • Willingness to learn new skills
