When it comes to marketing, the big mass-market insurers have more scale than us, so we have to rely on the quality of our marketing to cut through and have an impact; whether that’s better insights, better propositions, better broker and customer communications or better advertising.

Our brand has a rich heritage and is known for its distinctive, intelligent and witty approach to marketing. Now we need to continue this legacy while ensuring the brand is fit for the present day.

Marketing is an art and a science. It’s about understanding our customers and brokers and what makes them tick; it’s about helping craft our products and their positioning; it’s about optimising our distribution channel; it’s about understanding pricing and profitability; it’s about developing communications that stand out and make people think, feel and act. It’s also about understanding how effective our work is, how many people we’re reaching, and how many sales we’re driving.

As a Marketing Graduate you can expect to:

Your rotations explained:

On our Marketing Graduate Programme, you will spend time with five different departments within Hiscox UK. Each department is responsible for a different area of marketing so you will gain an understanding of how each team works as well as marketing in general.

Brand

This team are responsible for maintaining and improving Hiscox’s status as a leading insurance brand. They work across the business to ensure a consistent look, feel and tone of voice across all touchpoints and they collaborate with our agencies to produce category-leading advertising campaigns to help make Hiscox famous with our target audiences and support commercial performance.

Broker Marketing

This team are responsible for making Hiscox the preferred choice for Brokers. They help Hiscox understand, support and build relationships with brokers around the country across a multitude of touchpoints. Their work includes development of marketing materials and the creations of distinctive and memorable Broker events.  

Propositions

This team are focused on the needs of the customer and the opportunities for Hiscox within the market. They understand the market dynamics affecting our product and service offering and think of new ways to expand and optimise these to support our ambitions for growth.

Customer Comms

This team help ensure that vital customers communications are of the highest standard: that they help our customers achieve their objectives, are clear and easy to understand, as well as compliant with relevant regulations.

Direct Marketing

This team are responsible for developing and optimising the products, processes, and systems to allow Hiscox to directly, effectively and profitably sell home and business insurance to customers (i.e. not via a broker).

Requirements

  • 2:1 (predicted or obtained) in any degree discipline (UK or international equivalent).
  • Fluent business English, numerate, strong interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Permission to work in the UK.

We want to invest in your long-term future at Hiscox, from the start. You will join on a permanent contract and at the end of the programme (December 2026), you will have the opportunity to move into a Marketing role within Hiscox UK.
