Unlock your passions at Glenshane Veterinary Clinics

Glenshane Vets are a first opinion, mixed practice located in the fantastic city of Londonderry. Londonderry is a great location, in the middle of the Sperrin mountains. It is about 40 minute drive from the local airports, glamorous Belfast/Derry city entertainment and our stunning North Coast and Glens. There is good public transport available, and we have gorgeous hiking areas, good sport clubs, leisure centres and decent shopping centres in our area.

We have a great team which include 4 FTE Vets and 6 FTE Nurses, and we are truly a work family. Everyone is supportive of everyone, and we are lucky to enjoy each other’s company also outside work. Most of staff has been with the practice long time and we are blessed to have little turnover of staff. The team engages with the community by raising money for the chosen charities.

At the same time as raising money, we also do team building through team events like Belfast Marathon relay, MacMillan Mighty hike, Hyrox, climbing the Seven Seven Mourne Mountains, etc. Bi-monthly clinical staff meetings help with clinical governance and addressing issues that have arisen within the team. The clinical directors/practice manager/line manager have an open-door policy for anyone within the team.

Practice facilities include Idexx Lab station, microscope, Ovocyte, x-ray, dedicated ultrasound machines available for farm and companion animals, endoscope, multiparameter anesthetic monitoring, Ram Fertility testing, cattle crush/pens and calf/small ruminant operating table and horse stock. As mentioned previously, referral is often not an option, so between the farm and small animal Vets we perform a lot of internal meds work ups/surgeries except for spine and thoracic surgery and very complicated fractures.
