Unlock your passions @ Alphapet Veterinary Clinic

We are a wonderful, supportive practice located in Chichester. We have strong ties to the community. We work closely with Brent Lodge - a local wildlife charity which brings us some wildlife work, we also have members of the team involved with BDMLR (British Divers Marine Life Rescue) so we have treated the occasional Seal at the practice! Pre Covid, we used to run our own local dog show which we would raise money for local charities and has always proved very popular within the community.

We have a friendly and supportive team made up of 1 full time Vet, 2 part time Vets, 1 full time RVN, 4 part time RVNs, 4 full time Student Veterinary Nurses and 2 full time ANAs. One of our Head Nurses regularly attends schools in the local area to give talks to primary school children to promote animal care from a young age. We are actively investing in our team and putting clear pathways of upskilling and progression. We have members of the nursing team currently studying towards certificates in a range of interests including - Feline, Management & Leadership, Wellbeing and Exotics. We are a training practice for Student Nurses with 3 of our RVN's being Clinical Coaches which continuously allows opportunity's for further learning and development engagement. Our SVN's are often seen doing extra CPD and short courses provided through IVC to further advance our level of patient and client care.

We organise regular Lunch and Learns within the practice on a range of different subjects. All of our clinical team are Cat Friendly Professionals. While temporarily hampered by our building issues we have been actively working towards getting ISFM Cat Friendly status, Fear Free status, RWAF Rabbit Friendly status, VOA Blue badge and Dogs Trust Dog Friendly Scheme. Both our Head Nurses are IVC Wellbeing Champions who regularly ensure that our staff receive any support they may need. We endeavour to hold regular team meetings and keep up to date with performance reviews.

We have a fantastic practice with great facilities and equipment such as digital x-ray machine, ultrasound with the facilities for heart and routine scans, ECG machine with the facility to print the trace, flexible and rigid endoscope, dental machine and full diagnostic in house lab equipment. All patients under Anaesthetic or Sedation are monitored using multiparameter machines.

Step into a supportive start

Your normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, 4 days a week. Set days between 08:30 and 18:30. You will also be required to participate in a Saturday morning rota from 08:00- 13:00 on rotation.

We will initially support you by giving you time to shadow so you can find your feet within our practice and our policies. The amount of time will be dependent on the situation and what you feel you need, as all areas will be different and individual to you. We will assign you a Vet GDP mentor who you can discuss with how things are going and what areas you may need to build your confidence in.

We aim to foster a no blame culture to encourage open learning and reflection throughout the team. We actively encourage development, so will support you with any area's you wish to gain further skills or qualifications in. Our Head Nurses are happy to arrange any lunch and learns in an area you are interested in which can benefit you as well as the team as a whole.

The practice will also support you in applying for any Certificates or Diplomas you may want to complete and also help facilitate this. We also encourage 'bite size' courses that can be completed from home online. We are always open to hearing new ideas and fresh perspectives on our existing policies and procedures if they improve our level of care towards our staff, patients and/or clients.
