About the opportunity

At Jacobs, we’re transforming intangible ideas into innovative solutions designing the future - today.  As an Entry Level Civil Engineer (Tunnelling) based in London you will undertake tunnel design work for a range of interesting projects throughout the UK. Our tunnels team focusses on a range of small to large scale projects from pipejack undercrossings of railway infrastructure to complex underground caverns utilising techniques from empirical methods to 3D FE analyses.  Work undertaken can be structural and/or geotechnical in nature and we work across a range of industries: Rail, Highways, Utilities and Nuclear.  Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on world class projects as part of our Tunneling and Ground Engineering (TGE) sector business.

We are continuing to grow our Tunnelling group in the UK and are looking for people to join our team who have the passion and drive to add value and shape positive solutions for major projects across the world.

The successful person will join a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities. You will work as part of a diverse and highly skilled team of tunnelling engineers and geotechnical engineers, providing support and advice to the wider Jacobs business and clients. There will be opportunities for a wide range of responsibilities and roles within the Tunnelling team aimed at developing your career.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Degree in Civil Engineering 
  • MSc/MEng in related subject such as Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering graduating in 2021
  • Flexibility to travel for work
  • A commitment to the pursuit of becoming a chartered professional and continuous professional development (CPD).

Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have

  • Proven communication skills; both verbally and written
  • Demonstrated a previous interest in working in the Engineering Sector
  • Full driving licence.
