    The role

    Jensen Hughes is a multidisciplinary consultancy firm with over 80 years' experience in the nuclear sector supporting operating nuclear power plants throughout the world. Jensen Hughes' power systems experts have been providing design analysis, nuclear safety analysis, and risk-informed engineering services to the nuclear industry for decades. We offer an extensive range of engineering, analytical, and management services to nuclear facilities worldwide.

    Our nuclear and power team also supports the New Large Reactor, Small Modular Reactor (SMR), and Advanced Reactor development, licensing, and deployment We provide design, experience-based engineering, and practical software solutions to many advanced reactor developers as well as support to clients that are pursuing licensing and operating these plants. We provide added value to clients through the use of our extensive background in regulatory and licensing support as well as decades of experience supporting the operation of the existing fleet of reactors.

    We are offering a 6 month Industrial Placement starting in July 2025 to individuals studying for a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, this is a great opportunity to gain experience in this exciting field.

    Responsibilities

    As a Graduate Engineer at Jensen Hughes you will be an integral part of a dynamic team. Working with our experienced engineers you will receive constant technical support to quickly gain knowledge and experience in the energy and utilities service line. You will be given early responsibility and the opportunity to progress rapidly.

    You will support the Jensen Hughes European and US Nuclear teams in delivering key engineering solutions, projects, and business development, working with senior Jensen Hughes staff to perform engineering analyses and participate in interactions with nuclear clients to provide quality engineering analyses to meet their operational and business objectives. You must be able to work independently and part of a team on tasks that could include:

    • Technical report writing for projects
    • Independent advanced reactor risk research
    • Probabilistic Risk Assessment technical support
    • Business development strategy planning
    • Supporting and leading tasks on SMR development, licensing, and deployment

    Requirements and qualifications

    To be considered for this role you must have:

    • Graduated with, or expect to receive, at least a 2:1/2:2 Masters Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering
    • Excellent command of written and spoken English is required
    • The right to work in the UK
    • Must have UK citizenship due to clearance requirements
    • Must be prepared to go through a background check and drug/alcohol test to obtain required nuclear security clearance
    • A second European language is an advantage but not essential
