    John Crane is currently recruiting a Technician Engineer to be based in Slough. An engineering position supporting Gas Seals internal engineering team with design and project work.

    The role

    The role will work closely with both engineering and operations, to develop and supporting a number of both hands on and desk based engineering tasks.

    This position will suit an engineer with an excellent mechanical background, a passion for problem solving and being a member of a team. Any previous experience in rapid prototyping, 3D scanning will prove advantageous.

    This is an opportunity to join a team of mechanical engineering specialists supporting John Crane’s extensive dry gas seal product line.

    Duties & responsibilities

    • Producing Concept sketches, General Arrangement drawings in CAD both 2D and 3D
    • Provide detailed engineering support to internal customers
    • Constantly maintaining the company’s professional image via effective communication.
    • Responsible for internal co-ordination cross-functionally in line with project requirements.
    • Timely support of internal customers in relation to technical needs of their equipment.
    • Hands on measuring of parts using a variety of techniques: 3D scanning, coordinate measuring machines and manual equipment.
    • Support engineering tasks such as: sampling components for further analysis, assembly & test

    The Individual

    • Typically an accredited bachelor’s degree or HNC in engineering. Post graduate relevant experience.
    • Producing Concept sketches, General Arrangement drawings in CAD both 2D and 3D.
    • Knowledge of 3D scanning and manipulating the data produced.
    • Hands on experience with a range of metrology equipment, such as CMM’s, surface and form measurement.
    • Provide detailed engineering support to internal customers.
    • Support for internal and external co-ordination cross-functionally in line with project requirements.
    • Able to create and work to a plan, delivering on time and to expectations.
    • Support assembly and test of dry gas seals
    • Timely support of internal customers in relation to technical enquiries. Ability to work independently and drive team goals.
