This exciting new role has been created to support and expand the pipeline of Lancaster’s Research Commercialisation activity to generate opportunities for external collaboration and impact. We are keen to continue the upward trajectory in this space that we have seen over the last few years.

About the role

The Research Commercialisation Administrator will be a key part of a small team that works with academic colleagues across campus and a wide range of professional Knowledge Exchange (KE), Research Development and Support (RDS) and Research Impact (RI) staff.

You will have a key part to play in undertaking administration associated with the Research Commercialisation Team including accurate record keeping, financial monitoring, organisation of meetings and events and updating Research Commercialisation activities using the University’s Knowledge Exchange and Engagement Portal (KEEP) CRM.

The Research Commercialisation Administrator will also be expected to support the ongoing management of the University Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio including liaison with inventors and external suppliers to ensure accurate and timely submission of all necessary documentation.

What we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an individual who can grow into the role, with a keen interest in learning more about university research commercialisation. A basic understanding of Patenting and IP protection processes is desirable, but there will be opportunities for learning and development once in post through internal and where appropriate external support.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to develop effective professional relationships with colleagues and external organisations are essential as is a high level of proficiency with MS Office systems. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, can work flexibly and independently where necessary and contribute to a positive working environment in the Research Commercialisation Team and wider division.

Additional information

The role sits within Research and Enterprise Services (RES). Candidates should contact Jess Wenmouth, Head of Research Commercialisation (j.wenmouth@lancaster.ac.uk), for any questions or informal discussions regarding the role.
