The 6 month – 1 year Industrial Placement Programme
Our Industrial Placement Programme is designed to offer you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills you require to become an engineering or business professional of the future. On our programme you will engage with challenging and exciting project work, and deliver innovative business or technical solutions as part of a team of subject matter experts. Throughout the programme you will receive coaching and support from your team to achieve your objectives as well as your personal development goals. You will gain a wide array of experience on your placement that you can apply to your academic studies and future career.

What you will do

The CS3 line of business operates across all of the main UK sites, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers. We help to ensure the availability of front-line capability wherever and whenever required, whether that’s helicopters supporting the Covid-19 relief effort or fast jets protecting UK air space. By joining our team, you could help us to continue to make a difference.
As a systems engineering industrial placement within CS3, you will be part of a team developing support system architectures and concept solutions, looking at cost effective support of equipment through its life and providing training services to our customers. You will have the chance to work directly with our customers and end users across the UK, getting the opportunity to understand some of their challenges first-hand. Your role might include the use of mathematical analysis and modelling, to help ensure that the end user has equipment that will be reliable and easy to maintain in challenging environments. You might also look at how technology can be applied to provide a new type of training service that can be accessed globally by customers.
Key responsibility areas
- Using technical expertise to solve problems, generate ideas and be pro-active within the team.
- Developing and applying your academic knowledge to undertake various activities across the engineering lifecycle, delivering to agreed performance targets, including cost and schedule.
- Developing practical skills in engineering design and development for complex solutions, understanding key processes and technologies.
- Working closely with engineers across multiple disciplines to solve problems.
- Completing tasks to a high standard and in accordance with appropriate processes and procedures.
- Taking an active role in engineering process improvement

Qualifications
All of our Industrial Placement roles require a minimum of a predicted 2:1 grade in a relevant degree discipline. For technical roles please note that our preferred degree disciplines include Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM subject degrees.
