Every time a customer uses our apps, makes a purchase, or chooses a product, they generate data. This data is incredibly important, but how can it help us grow, transform, and prepare for whatever the future brings? That’s where our Data Science and Analytics teams come in.

We're experts in collecting and analysing large data sets, and we use this knowledge to help teams across the business spot and understand opportunities and challenges. We design software, integrate machine learning and more, to create data-led solutions, predict customer outcomes and model risks. It means there’s no shortage of interesting problems to solve or ways to make an impact on our 26 million customers.

Right now, we're looking for talented graduates to join us. If you have an inquisitive, analytical mind and are excited by all things data, we want to hear from you.

Is our Data Science and Analytics Graduate Scheme for you?

If you want to work in data, wouldn’t you want to work where the scale of data is almost unrivalled? Somewhere with established processes and production systems you can learn from? Somewhere that will give you the structure and support you need to excel?

That’s exactly what our scheme offers. As well as the vast amounts of data you’ll be working with and problems you’ll be solving, you’ll do it as part of an extremely experienced and supportive team.

As individuals, we're incredibly diverse – in attitude, skills and ways of thinking – but we share an appreciation for innovation and learning. It takes drive and resilience to keep discovering new solutions, but you won’t do it on your own. We know that collaborating to solve a problem makes for a stronger solution and everyone, at every level, is here to help you learn.

And to ensure you become a data professional with deep understanding of how to impact change, our scheme gives you the chance to develop specialist skills in one of three areas.

What you’ll learn on the Data Science and Analytics Graduate Scheme

Over the course of two years you’ll do three eight-month placements working in Data teams across the Group, developing your expertise in one of the following areas.

On each, we’ll help you develop agile ways of working, encourage you to work to your strengths and grow beyond them through training and networking. And at the end of your scheme, you’ll have a portfolio of tried and tested data-led solutions that show your skills, and could lead to a varied and successful career across the Group.

Data Engineering

Learn how to use market leading technologies and adopt groundbreaking methodologies to help build our data pipelines. Developing a good understanding of Cloud environments, you’ll build an appreciation of how data engineering provides the foundations for good analytics and data science.

Playing a key role in our digital and data transformation, you’ll learn how to uncover hidden patterns, extract valuable insights, and present valuable information to others in intuitive and compelling ways.

Data Science

Here you’ll gain and in-depth insight into our use of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions. Getting to apply your knowledge of statistics, maths and computer science, along with your analytical and inquisitive mind to help solve some of the most challenging problems facing the bank.

The work you could be doing

  • Providing clean, structured data layers and tables from one of the richest financial datasets in the UK
