The opportunity
This role starts in early September 2024, and is based in Warrington in the Energy and Utilities sector within our Consult engine.
Mace provides a range of services to energy clients, including project and programme management, commercial management, project controls, construction management and advisory services. We help our utilities clients at both a strategic and tactical level: delivering discrete projects and offering broader organisational and structural reviews. Working with an intelligent partner like Mace can help utility businesses drive value for money through every aspect of their operations.
In our Consult engine, you’ll be part of a global think tank where innovation and sustainability take the lead. We collaborate closely with clients to understand their individual challenges, lending new ideas and fresh thinking to make strategic decisions and shape project directions. We will follow our clients where they work, often sharing their locations. Whilst we visit projects and sites, Consult is more about delivery of creative solutions than hardhats. What you’ll do
In Project Controls, you will play a key role in supporting Project Management Office (PMO) and Project Controls teams to implement and deliver a wide range of PMO and Project Controls services to support assigned projects. Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting administration of PMO and Project Controls process on a project operating under supervision and mentorship of more senior professionals assigned to that commission
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly reports as required
- Contributing to the facilitation and delivery of performance reporting and reviews
- Assisting in the development of PMO and Project controls methodologies, such as Earned Value Management
- Contributing to the delivery of all PMO and Planning disciplines, such as Risk Management and Planning
- Supporting to ensure that all PMO and Project Controls activity is aligned to the Mace Control Centre
You will also work towards gaining professional membership of the Association of Project Management (APM), fully funded and supported by us.

About you
- A future or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree or higher in any subject
- 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications)

As our projects are spread across different locations, your work base will be flexible, and travel may be required to various project sites or Mace offices. It’s therefore important to have a positive and flexible approach towards travel. Due to this particular project’s remote location, having a driving licence would be beneficial for this role.
