At Mace, we’re global experts in shaping the built environment – helping to lead the way to a more connected, resilient and sustainable world. From development and consultancy, to construction and operations, we connect expertise across the entire property lifecycle to help our clients, people, communities and society achieve more than they believe is possible.

The opportunity

This role starts in late June 2024, and is based in London in the Education: Universities sector within our Consult engine.

Delivering for everyone, everywhere. The higher education sector is equally under more pressure than ever before. Students are demanding ever higher standards from facilities, and estate directors are working to rationalise, expand and improve facilities with reduced capital funding, at the same time as collaborating to create shared facilities for world class research.

Meeting tomorrow’s targets, today, with better quality solutions at less cost is also vital for our clients. Reducing energy use and carbon emissions is firmly on the agenda of the sector. We assist our clients to deliver top-class facilities that enhance their long-term educational and research capabilities.

In our Consult engine, you’ll be part of a global think tank where innovation and sustainability take the lead. We collaborate closely with clients to understand their individual challenges, lending new ideas and fresh thinking to make strategic decisions and shape project directions. Although we often visit our projects, Consult is more about creative solutions than hardhats. If on-site action speaks to you more, our Construct engine might be your scene – check out the hands-on roles we have there, where you’ll be turning plans into reality on the ground.

What you’ll do

In Cost Consultancy, you will play a key role in supporting projects to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality requirements. You will coordinate with all relevant parties to understand and deliver project objectives set out in the project plans. Some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • Observing and assisting in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors/suppliers
  • Providing guidance in issues of certificate of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any requirements relating to completion, submissions and approvals
  • Providing informal guidance to more junior roles
  • Developing working relationships with (range of) internal stakeholders. Works with team members providing operational delivery of team/regional strategy
