    As a participant in this program, you will provide specialised technical expertise and support to hospital clinical teams. Your role includes regular support for implantable cardiac devices in both the catheterization laboratory (Cath Lab) and outpatient settings, as well as troubleshooting support upon request. Training and educating our customers is essential to build their competence and confidence in our products, while also developing long-lasting clinical relationships.

    Nextgen field academy

    Medtronic's NextGen Field Academy is a unique 12-month program designed for passionate and driven individuals from diverse academic backgrounds. It offers a structured path to develop into a qualified Technical Consultant in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM).

    This isn’t just training—it’s hands-on experience, expert mentorship, and real-world exposure to the most advanced healthcare technologies in clinical settings.

    Internship details

    • Start date: 1st September 2025
    • Duration: 12 months
    • Working hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week
    • Working model: Hybrid
    • Location: Watford

    Responsibilities 

    • Shadow Technical Consultants (TCs) in hospital Cath Labs and clinics to observe device implant procedures and follow-up visits
    • Participate in structured online and in-person training sessions over a 12-month period
    • Engage in regular check-ins with your assigned mentor and TC team for guidance and support
    • Take on regular projects to complement and reinforce your learning
    • Participate in ongoing assessments with dedicated trainers and mentors to track your progress
    • Join activities across the European cohort

    Required knowledge

    • Recent Graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biomedical Engineering or Cardiac Physiology or similar
    • Fluency in English
    • Legally authorised to work in the country where the position is based on a full-time basis and does not require sponsorship in the future for an employment visa
    • Driver's license
    • A genuine passion for healthcare and medical innovation, with a strong desire to make a real-world impact
    • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
    • A self-motivated team player who is ambitious, eager to learn, and open to feedback
    • Willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays, which may include some unsociable hours. Expected Minimum travel of 20%

    Physical job requirements

    The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequent required travel to customer clinics, hospitals, and offsite meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile. Working within a radiation field the wearing of lead aprons is an essential requirement.
