£36,408 (includes non-concessionary payment of £2,658)
Flexible working: Full time, 37 hours per week. Due to the sensitive nature of the role, you’ll be based in the office five days per week. We recognise the importance of a healthy work-life balance, and offer compressed hours, with flexibility around start and finish times.
GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber and security agency with a mission to keep the UK safe. We use cutting-edge technology, ingenuity and partnerships to identify, analyse and disrupt threats. Working with our intelligence partners MI5 and MI6, we protect the UK from terrorism, cyber-attacks and espionage. At GCHQ you’ll do varied and fascinating work in a supportive and inclusive environment that puts the emphasis on teamwork.
As an Intelligence Reporter, you’ll write and deliver vital intelligence reports that influence real-world decision making. When our partners across government and the defence sector require information, you’ll find and provide it. You’ll produce articulate, justified reports that ensure greater clarity and shape informed responses.
You’ll build relationships with multiple teams, partners and stakeholders at all levels. And although you’ll be working as part of a team, you’ll need to be confident working independently too. You’ll have experience of producing formal, professional written content and working to tight deadlines. Importantly, you’ll work with precision and make sure all documents are legal and policy compliant. As an active member of the departmental policy and compliance network, you’ll also communicate any policy changes to our business units.
To join, you’ll need a 2:2 degree (or an equivalent qualification) in any subject, or experience in a role that involves report writing and policy training or implementation. You’ll also be proficient with Microsoft Office systems. And of course, you’ll be confident communicating with others both in writing and in person. Organised and adaptable, you’ll meet changing demands and balance multiple requests simultaneously.
Upon joining, you’ll receive a full induction to GCHQ as well as access to training that lasts throughout your career with us. You’ll be part of a vibrant skills community dedicated to supporting your ambitions, with tailored coaching and mentoring also available. Plus, you’ll get plenty of guidance as you settle into the role, including training on data sharing policies, legal and compliant intelligence release, and effective communication.
You’ll receive a starting salary of £36,408, plus other benefits including 25 days’ annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), paid parental and adoption leave, and the option to work flexibly with compressed hours. We recognise the importance of a good work-life balance, so whatever stage of life or your career you’re at, you won’t have to compromise on what matters to you.
