Mott MacDonald are offering an opportunity to join the Special Services Division (SSD), which is a growing area of the business within the transportation sector of the company. The team is at the forefront of developing advanced structural analyses and dynamic solutions, addressing material technology requirements, advancing asset life management of a wide range of infrastructure, and undertaking specialist studies for a diversity of clients.

As a graduate in SSD, you would be working on a wide range of projects, which cover aspects such as design, forensic analysis, first-principles problem solving and asset life extension. As a team we are at the forefront of developing advanced structural analysis and dynamics solutions. You would be working in a skilled team of engineers, applying a range of design codes, as well as assessing non-code compliant structures, often using FEA software, to develop innovative solutions for our clients. Within our projects we have a strong focus on sustainability, applying this to the solutions we develop for designs both environmentally and socially, as well as developing tools to aid with these processes.

Candidate specification

We are currently recruiting for committed and motivated graduates with a genuine passion for problem solving, complex analysis and a desire to make a difference in the world. The SSD team has a focus on specialist skills such as dynamics, vibration and non-linear problems, so a keen interest in these areas and willingness to learn is required.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months relevant experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Civil and Structural Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • General Engineering (with a specialism in one of the above)

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics

  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
