We can offer academic placements for students who require this as part of their degree (typically January - May/June), however. we can be flexible on dates and duration.

Job description

Our building services engineers are responsible for the functional design which takes buildings from an empty shell to a pleasant space to live and work in. Our teams are responsible for ensuring health and safety requirements are met, while creating a visually appealing and comfortable environment.

As a placement student within the building services team you will be helping to provide cost effective and sustainable solutions to ensure buildings perform in an efficient and effective manner. Our projects are not just within the UK, they are international. They also span a variety of sectors, including defence, transport, utilities, energy, public and private sector. Some of our notable projects include HS2, Royal Navy Britannia College and the Somerset Energy Innovation Centre (part of the Hinkley power station project).

This team works on a variety of projects including the installation of necessities such as power, lighting, fire systems and security. You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.

We do not have a formal structure for our placement programmes so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain from your experience with us. We have opportunities in ourCork and Dublin offices.

Candidate specification

To apply for this opportunity, you must be enrolled onto an electrical engineering degree course (or a similar subject).

You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so a placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.

We do not have a formal structure for our placements, so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain from your experience with us. As well as having one of the specific degrees listed above, we are looking for students with the following characteristics:

  • A methodical approach to problem solving
  • The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail with the ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
