We are looking to strengthen our Solutions team with a Graduate Solution Engineer based at Derby within our Severn Trent Framework.

The role

Reporting to the Pre-Contract Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams developing technical and commercial proposals to potable water and sewage treatment projects, considering sustainability and carbon footprint of optimum and competitive solutions. As a graduate, you will develop skills such as:

  • Collaborating with clients to understand their project needs.
  • Identification of the project scope and coordination of the associated solutions to support the Estimating teams to price the projects.
  • Project Management including developing and monitoring programmes for the solution development and proposal submission.
  • Identification, sourcing and control of project information to enable the teams to develop and price the solutions required.
  • Design Coordination of multidisciplinary teams including working with our experts in mechanical, civil, electrical and process engineering to develop with the right solutions that are competitive and sustainable.
  • Coordinating solutions with our specialist Planning, Construction and Commissioning teams, as well as ensuring that the proposals meet the required health, safety, sustainability, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Solutions cost forecasting and control.
  • Project risk management.
  • Understanding and supporting the business governance processes.
  • Produce timely high quality tender submissions that are technically and commercially competitive and meet the client’s requirements.
  • Understanding and drafting NEC4 contracts.
  • Understanding of contract negotiations.
  • Handover of successful proposals to our Design and Operations team for their construction.

About You

Essential:

  • Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical/Civil/Chemical/Environmental/Process), with specific interest in the Water industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and team working skills.
  • You will be self-motivated, flexible and reliable with good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think clearly under pressure.
  • You will have a strong client service focus.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent computer skills and a good understanding of Microsoft Office.
  • Successful candidates will need to be flexible and willing to spend time in other offices and sites. This is to gain a full understanding of new projects and different clients, which will provide fresh experiences and support your development.

Desirable:

  • Full UK driving license or have the ability to make their own way to our sites and offices.
