The HR Tech team is looking for a Trainee Developer to join their team, 36 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
At the heart of Next, the HR Tech team supports all Head Office, Retail, Online and Warehouses employee’s - that's over 50,000 people! Oracle HCM was introduced to support such a large and growing workforce and will ensure that our people continue to be at the heart of Next.
The role will involve working closely with the Team Leader, Support Manager and other team members to provide the high-quality programming and analytical skills needed to enhance and support the systems at Next.
You will be heavily involved in the support and enhancement of existing and new systems using a wide range of technologies and will provide analytical and programming skills across a range of platforms, translating business requirements into code
You’ll provide fault-finding expertise, and follow issues through to their resolution, developing, testing & implementing code
You will be communicating effectively at all levels; within the team, with business users, and other Systems departments and provide clear and concise documentation for a variety of audiences

About the Role
- Part of a second line team providing operational support for key business processes
- Involved in project team deliveries with a support viewpoint
- Identify and implement service improvements where applicable
- Automation of manual tasks and processes
- Be involved in the full life cycle development including (analysis, design, deployment)
- Provide analytical and programming skills across a range of platforms, translating business requirements into code
- Develop new concepts, testing, deploying and supporting the multitude of applications used by our business
- Proactively improve existing skills, taking on new technical skills as appropriate, and continuously seek to expand business knowledge
- Work closely with other systems teams to improve cross-team resolution of issues
- Have the flexibility to provide additional support when required by project work, key events, peak periods.
About you
- Competent in picking up a system from scratch and being able to follow and document data flows and business logic.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Able to analyse legacy systems and find out what they are doing.
- Team player with peers in support team
- Be able to communicate effectively with the business users and other IT teams.
- A “can do” attitude
