In partnership with North Yorkshire Council, NY Highways operates as a commercial business, delivering highways services and maintenance to both the public and private sectors.
The year in industry placement
Our placement lets you apply the theory and knowledge from your university studies in a practical, real-world setting. You will assist in the day-to-day delivery of procurement activities and commercial support of key business initiatives. These include:
- Buying Raising purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and resolving invoice queries to support the timely supply of goods and services. You’ll work closely with internal teams to understand operational needs and help ensure works are delivered on time and within budget.
- Procurement
- Supporting tender processes, including market research, supplier engagement, and evaluation activities. You’ll contribute to the development of procurement strategies and help define requirements that align with business priorities.
- Contract Management Supporting the administration of live contracts by assisting with supplier performance reviews, tracking key deliverables, and contributing to commercial reporting. You’ll help ensure suppliers meet their contractual obligations and gain hands-on experience of how contracts are managed in a fast-paced operational environment.
