To coordinate, analyse and present key data to track Shildon manufacturing Operational performance. This role will focus on the execution of several reports, which will require attention to details and knowledge of financial metrics to support the goals of the business. The role requires interaction with several stakeholders in various functions up to senior management level.
Description
An opportunity has arisen for a placement student to take on an incredibly exciting role working with our UK Finance Team based at the Shildon manufacturing site.
We are looking for someone who is ready to take on the challenge of processing and analysing our financial performance to create greater financial awareness and support business direction. This in turn will add value to PPG and our customers.
We are also looking for someone who is ready to take on the challenge of using their data analytical skills to support our operational efficiencies.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Finance Controller of the Shildon site.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting the Financial controller with month-end reporting and business partnering.
- Preparing and posting journals for accruals and adjustments as required.
- To provide analysis of Purchase Price Variances and production batch variances.
- To analyse and investigate financial variances, and to be able to present these back to non-financial stakeholders in an easy-to-understand way
- Support the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes with accompanying analysis
- Support annual audit requests
- Input into identifying improvements to standard finance processes and help to improve these
- Help to create business plans for CapEx spend
Knowledge, skills and competencies needed
- High attention to details
- Strong Excel skills
- Able to work to strict deadlines even when under pressure
- Strong team player, work effectively within a team environment and autonomously
- Strong communicator both written and verbally
Experience and qualifications
- Currently in their 2nd year of university studying for a degree in a related field (Accounting & Finance, Business with Finance etc.)
- Knowledge of management accounts
- Time management skills
- Understanding of Supply Chains (Manufacturing/Logistics)
- Data creation and analysis
- Highly literate in Microsoft Excel
- Experience/Knowledge of Oracle preferred.
