The Team

Hebrides Engineering

The QinetiQ Hebrides Range Engineering Communications Group is made up of multidisciplinary teams who deliver high quality & expert service to a wide range of military & government customers, conducting testing, trials, training and evaluation on the largest Air and Sea Range in Western Europe.

The Networks & Communications team is recruiting graduates to take up a full time role as part of the team based in the Outer Hebrides and supporting the wider group throughout the UK.

This role is focused around a training and development framework that will see successful candidates work through a competency structure that provides the foundation for registering with professional bodies and kick starting your career.

This is a hands on role with the opportunity to work across with a wide variety of IT and communications systems and supporting infrastructure.

Experience will be gained on Trails Control and Surveillance Management systems, network management and change control processes as well has having the opportunity to be introduced to systems engineering processes and projects.

Academic requirements

Candidates should have at least a 2:1 degree within an IT / Cyber or Networks focused discipline

Additional information

  • Candidates should have a strong interest and/or experience within Networks &/or Wireless communications
  • A passion for computing and working on networked based systems is recommended.
  • Experience with CISCO IOS is desirable and skills in this area will be built upon.
  • If your hobbies include PC building / programming, amateur radio, UAV/radio controlled vehicles then this could be job for you.
  • Please be aware that these roles within QinetiQ will be subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform for the organisation.
  • Successful applicants shall be required to undertake and pass Helicopter Underwater Escape training, in order to travel to the island of St Kilda for occasional deployments.
  • This role involves supporting working at height activities on masts and towers and requires successful completion of associated medicals and training.
  • All required specialist training is provided.

Mandatory

In accordance with our National Security Vetting requirements, all applicants must also be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum. 

Please note that under immigrations rules, our Early Careers roles do not meet the legal threshold for candidates who are residents of the UK on student visas.
