The Information Architecture team is part of the Data and Statistical Sciences - Data Science Acceleration enabling platform (DSS DSX). Our mission is to improve and optimize end-to-end data processes by designing the domain vocabularies and leading the implementation of related technical solutions to ensure proper information flow across connected applications.
One of our focus areas is metadata management; a key enabler for interoperability and data FAIRification. We manage a metadata platform based on Semantic Web technologies that is widely used to serve metadata standards across the organization.
Through collaborating with business and technical stakeholders, we are shaping the future landscape to enable better quality in data management, and enhanced data and insights sharing to help scientists to develop new medicines. For an ongoing collaboration with the Data Strategy and Delivery Technical Excellence enabling platform (DSD TechX), we are looking for a Data Architect/Knowledge Engineer to join our team and help us scale an automated study case management system by introducing a machine-understandable ontology for a rule engine that would complement the envisioned AI-assisted optimization model.
Your responsibilities
- Assisting in the management of the existing rule engine ontology as well as the development of new extensions to support scaling needs.
- Engaging with domain experts (technical and business) to identify metadata management needs and flows across systems in the area of clinical study data management.
- Developing and maintaining the corresponding technical artifacts (SPARQL queries/SHACL shapes) to optimize the information flow and connect with downstream applications in the larger case management system landscape.
- Developing and maintaining the corresponding documentation and training materials to ensure optimal knowledge sharing between the two teams.
- Participating in other cross-functional projects and initiatives where relevant.
You are
- A BS/BA, MS or PhD graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related areas.
- A quick learner and passionate about modeling and understanding complex relationships present in the data.
- A team player able to work with minimal supervision and with other team members cross-functionally.
You have
- Some experience with Linked Data and Semantic Web technology stack: e.g RDF, RDFS, OWL, SPARQL, SHACL.
- A good grasp of FAIR Data principles.
- Proficiency in R and/or a frontend language such as React.
- The ability to develop proof of concepts to see your ideas implemented.
- Excellent English communication (oral and written) and technical writing skills.
In addition, having any of the following is of advantage
- Knowledge on clinical data used in the pharma industry.
- Knowledge of the processes in pharma development.
- A good grasp of Natural Language Understanding and Large Language Models.
