We are a global technology company, driving energy innovation for a balanced planet.

At SLB we create amazing technology that unlocks access to energy for the benefit of all. That is our purpose. As innovators, that’s been our mission for 100 years. We are facing the world’s greatest balancing act- how to simultaneously reduce emissions and meet the world’s growing energy demands. We’re working on that answer. Every day, a step closer.

Our collective future depends on decarbonizing the fossil fuel industry, while innovating a new energy landscape. It’s what drives us. Ensuring progress for people and the planet, on the journey to net zero and beyond. For a balanced planet.

The role

GPM, which stands for Geological Process Modelling is the software simulator for forward stratigraphic modeling developed by Schlumberger. Working with Petrel, both on prem and via DELFI Petrotechnical Suite it allows the user to create quantitative geological models by numerically simulating the physical and geological processes over time. The resulting models will predict the associated stratigraphic sequences and litho-facies and so allow the geologists/geoscientists to explore physically defensible scenarios of the depositional architecture

An intern is required to work alongside the GPM Product Success and Product Development teams to create a range of GPM template models to reflect a wide range of geological scenarios and depositional environments. The repository of templates will be available in future release of GPM and will allow users to quickly and seamlessly construct a GPM model that can then be edited and customized, enabling even novice users to quickly harness the value of GPM technology.

The project will require a candidate passionate and knowledgeable about Petroleum Geology with ideally prior experience with Petrel.

Deliverables

You will work under supervision of an experienced geologist to identify, research and build template GPM models utilizing literature and publicly available analogous data sources. Project will allow candidate to utilize and develop a deep knowledge of geology within the context of the petroleum industry. Candidate will also gain valuable experience working in a dynamic and collaborative product development centre.
