Kirsty Blackman MP is looking for two interns to join her Aberdeen North team over the summer.
Length of Contract: 7th July-18th August (with potential to extend)
This role offers experience supporting an MP with their constituency work including dealing with casework and handling enquiries from members of the public. The Aberdeen North office is a fast-paced, supportive environment to work in.
Duties and responsibilities
- Learning and assisting how to manage casework and draft responses to constituents.
- Learning and assisting how to monitor media coverage.
- Attending surgeries and other meetings as part of training.
- Basic administrative support.
- Learning and assisting in appropriate research.
- Open, handle and action emails, post and social media enquiries.
- There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours occasionally.
Essential skills and requirements
- A passion for helping people and solving their problems.
- A strong, proactive work ethic.
- Relevant IT skills – including Microsoft Office, social media platforms & digital communications.
- Excellent communications skills, with accurate attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with colleagues.
