As part of a dedicated team of engineers you will be collaborating closely with global sales teams to draw and quote systems for our customers which are both innovative and manufacturable. Your role will be vital to ensuring we continue to provide a world class service which meets the demanding needs of the biopharma and medical device industries. The role includes an initial project to increase automation in the design process, including automated BOM generation, reducing time to draw and reducing probability of error through transitioning to the Solidworks platform.
Key responsibilities
- You will be an integral part of the consultative selling process for WMArchitect, collaborating with sales teams from multiple countries to evaluate design requests for our global customer base.
- You will be managing multiple stakeholders to ensure enquiries are given appropriate prioritization.

- Balancing factors such as lead time, price, component availability, fit and function, ease of manufacture and customer specific requirements to find the optimum design configuration.
- Using vector design software (e.g. CorelDraw) to create descriptive manufacturing drawings of assemblies.
- Working closely with the validation team to ensure all components used in assemblies are compliant with relevant standards.
- You will be responsible for quoting new designs and updating prices for existing drawings.
- To do this you will use a predefined cost model to calculate the prices and understand the breakdown of margins.
- You will liaise with suppliers and the local purchasing team to obtain pricing and lead time of componentry.
- Where needed you will collaborate with local and global stakeholders to ensure we are quoting assemblies at the most appropriate price point.
- You will be creating and maintaining WMArchitect part numbers in our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- You will be working with our PLM team and Solidworks partners (Solid Solutions) to get a proof-of-concept model set up in Solidworks for assembly design. This will include:
- Gathering component drawings from various product websites and internal resources to populate the ‘toolkit’ with commonly used components
- Working with the applications team to establish rules to govern some of the automation
- Working with the PLM team to detail a transition plan from our current document control procedures to Windchill
- Helping to train the engineering team on the use of Solidworks and the PLM system and the wider WMArchitect team who access drawings
- You will work closely with the planning and operations teams to troubleshoot any technical issues during planning and manufacture of WMArchitect assemblies.
