You’ll be joining the new and quickly-growing Finance Data team, a team of 7, within the wider Finance division made up of over 100 individuals. The team are responsible for managing financial data for SJP Group, which is the foundation of a large amount of work undertaken in the business, as well as its governance. This data is taken from a number of sources including SJP’s admin provider.

As an apprentice in the team, you will support the sourcing of the financial data and analysing this to understand what it means. This role provides you with exposure to a significant quantity of data in varying complexities, which allows you to develop your skills in data management and governance. You will enhance and develop your coding skills using complex data using very powerful software solutions.

Typical day to day responsibilities may include

  • Managing distribution mechanisms of financial data to the wider business.
  • Supporting the management of data files, ensuring they have been received correctly and have been interpreted accurately.
  • Creating new data sets and distributions through coding to then share with end users.
  • Regularly working in a coding environment in our databases, gaining hands on experience with SQL and Python.
  • Investigate areas of interest in financial data to identify new trends and investigate unexplained data queries.

Required skills to be successful

  • Logical and analytical thinker.
  • Process driven.
  • Confident in building and maintaining relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work with large numbers and date sets.

If you are interested in this role, you will need to hold a minimum of level 4 in English Language and Mathematics at GCSE. Computer science, Maths, and Scientific studies are desirable, however not required. A desirable candidate would have experience or knowledge with coding language such as SQL or Python, and if no experience is seen you should have an interest in learning.

An understanding of computer systems and how data is stored in databases is desirable.
