The Role

We have multiple internship opportunities in Thales UK Optronics & Missile Electronics (OME) over summer 2024. This opportunity sits within Engineering, specifically Algorithms.

The Algorithms Engineer processes camera imagery to present useful information for the user for a variety of applications, including; sighting systems for land applications and for periscopes and masts. An aspect of this role is sifting, sorting and providing raw data for the training and verification of Machine Learning algorithms.

As an algorithms engineering intern, you will work closely with the Algorithms team in activities aimed at improving our data. You will have the opportunity to gather data from real world experiments and report on your findings.

All candidates will be required to conduct a presentation on their placement.

Location

What We're Looking For

We are looking for undergraduates who have the ability to work with and understand complex information, using an analytical approach to solving problems. You will be studying a Bachelor or Masters Degree (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject or Higher Education/equivalent training and experience.

You will have an interest in machine learning (ML)/ Artificial Intelligence (AI):

• Knowledge of programming in Python / C++ / SQL
• Practical skills in setting up experiments with hardware
• Good communication skills, written and oral
• Team working and positive attitude to learning new skills

Salary And Benefits

Compensation for this placement is pro rata £22,500 per annum. You will also receive pro-rated benefits in line with Thales employees.
