We have multiple internship opportunities in Thales UK Optronics & Missile Electronics (OME) over summer 2024. This opportunity sit within Engineering, specifically Optical Engineering.

The Optical Engineer develops, designs and tests optical lens systems for a variety of applications including sighting systems for land applications, periscopes and masts.

As an Optical Engineering intern, you will work closely with the optical engineering team in activities aimed at improving ways of working with our optical design tools.

You will have the opportunity to learn about optical design, engineering and test processes.

Location

The internships are within the OME business of Thales and will be based in Glasgow. Thales embrace flexibility when it comes to working patterns and we will be happy to discuss options that best suit you.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for undergraduates studying a Bachelor or Masters Degree (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject who have the ability to work with and understand complex information, using an analytical approach to solving problems. Individuals with Higher Education/equivalent training and experience are equally considered.

You will have an interest in photonics, optics and possess the following skills:

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of optics
  • Good programming skills and comfortable learning new programming languages
  • Good communication skills, written and oral
  • Team working and positive attitude to learning new skills

Salary And Benefits

Compensation for this placement is pro rata £22500 per annum. You will also receive prorated benefits in line with Thales employees.
