The job

The Sr Inside Sales Representative is a key member of our BioProduction sales team serving our Biotech and Biopharma customers across the UK. This role is focused on growing sales of our market leading Bioprocessing portfolio: a wide range of instruments, consumables and services, including cell culture media, single-use technologies and purification resins. 

Inside Sales Representatives act as a trusted commercial point of contact and work closely with our field-based sales, service and support teams to bring our innovative workflows to our customers. 

Being part of the inside sales team will introduce you to many diverse parts of the Business.  You will work on a wide range of tasks such as presenting to our customers on our products and services, creating potential business leads, to developing sales action plans that project and measure your business progress. Your engagement and commitment will ensure that our customers get the right selection of products to fit their current and future needs. 

This is an office-based role at our Inchinnan, Paisley office (near Glasgow), with the option to work from home 1 day per week. Your primary method of contact with customers is phone and digital solutions. Field visits will be part of the role and successful candidates will be encouraged to travel within territory up to 25% of working time to develop relationships with our customers and prospect for new business. The territory for this role covers all of the UK.

This role is ideal for a Life Sciences graduate with some laboratory or customer-facing experience, who wants to pursue a sales career at a global company. We will provide full product and sales training to develop your selling skills and ensure your success in the role.

What will you do?      

  • Achieve the agreed sales targets for our Bioprocessing product portfolio
  • Identify and close sales opportunities
  • Prospect for new business opportunities
  • Provide product information and sales presentations to Bioprocessing customers at all accounts in territory
  • Build internal/external networks and maximise collaboration via our CRM system
  • Utilise account and territory planning tools
  • Develop appropriate selling skills consistent with Thermo Fisher Scientific philosophy, policies, and procedures
  • Travel up to 25% of working time (c. once or twice per month) within sales territory and attend regular off site internal meetings

Who we are looking for

  • A degree in a Life Science
  • Any kind of work experience outside of your degree: Laboratory-based work, sales/telesales/retail sales or customer service experience in any industry all of particular interest
  • Ideally you will have spent some time in a lab
  • Knowledge of the Bioprocessing workflow and market is an advantage, but not essential
  • Commercial approach, with a genuine desire to work in a sales role
  • Positive demeanor and desire to succeed
  • Strong communicator and confident personality; able to engage and influence at all levels
  • Fluent in English
  • Digital literacy in MS Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint or similar programs required
  • Comfortable working in an office 4 days pw (plus 1 day wfh)
  • Willing and able to travel within the UK up to 25% of working time
