A position exists, for a Research Assistant in the Department of Engineering, to work in control of converter based grids.

The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities

The key responsibilities and duties are to work in the area of decentralized and plug-and-play control of converter based grids with a focus on DC microgrids while also considering applications in AC grids. In particular, various case studies will be formulated to validate recently developed decentralized stability certificates for DC grids, while also considering extensions in AC grids. The research assistant will also contribute to activities associated with the dissemination of the results.

The skills, qualifications and experience

  • A very good first degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or a closely related field.
  • Research experience in the area of control of converter based grids/microgrids, as well as decentralized and plug-and-play control.
  • Good knowledge of English, and ability to efficiently communicate technical results via both oral presentations and papers/reports.
