Get practice ready with Vets for Pets and Companion Care.

Newton Abbot Vets for Pets is looking for a graduate vet to join their team and our award-winning graduate scheme on the September 2024 intake.

About the role

We’re a very close team, and everyone enjoys coming into work and we make sure we have team days out. We care about our team and their wellbeing, so we like to encourage breaks outdoors during the day and have mental health first aiders in the team.

Our practice is ISFM Silver award credited and we have won National Partner of the year and been runner up National Surgery of the Year. We have also been nominated Surgery of the Year with petplan for the last 8 years since opening along with almost all team members individually.

'Newton Abbot has been such a fantastic place to help me gain more experience and confidence. The whole team is extremely supportive and will always help you whenever needed.'

Polly – Veterinary Surgeon

We are a very busy surgery with varied caseload and lovely client base, many of whom we get to know as friends. The surgery itself has multiparameter with ECG, digital xray, ultrasound, digital urinalysis, latest idexx blood machines. Orthopedic referral surgeons operate from the surgery.

Our surgery is located up on a mezzanine level inside the Pets at Home store in Kingsteignton Retail Park.

Our great location means we are on the edge of Dartmoor national park and a stone’s throw from famous beaches and the bustling city of Exeter and Plymouth. We also have great transport links being close to Exeter airport and the M5.

This a full time position of 40 hours, with weekends on a rota basis.

With genuine support and emphasis on your wellbeing, you can realise and maintain your full potential in an environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance too.

You’ll be supported from day one by a dedicated mentor/Vet GDP Advisor, you’ll also be able to take paid leave to attend the varied CPD programme designed by vets specifically for new graduates. As you build your confidence in caring for pets and their owners, you’ll grow your own client base and see the continuity of cases with the support of your wider team. You won’t be in sole charge of cases until you’re ready.

As a standard on the Graduate Development Programme, we offer a 2-year programme with no financial tie-ins, guaranteed starting salary of at least £35,500 per annum with reviews each year on programme, 10-12 clinical/non-clinical structure CPD days a year with covered travel costs, access to wellbeing support and free membership of wellbeing app and support with practice transfer should the need to arise. We also arrange fun social activities where you can engage with your fellow graduates! To find out about more about our award-winning Graduate Development Programme visit.
