We are looking for talented and enthusiastic Chemical ECI Engineering graduates to join our Engineering Graduate Development Programme GDP.

The role

This 2-year development programme is structured to offer 6-month long rotations giving you exposure to a number of roles across Engineering, playing your part in developing transformational and sustainable solutions that address world material challenges every day.

Compelled by a passion for solving complex design and engineering challenges in a collaborative culture, with endless opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and engineering leadership across the whole of operations. Built on the foundations of Chemical (Process) and EC&I Engineering, the programme would be well suited to someone interested in either a functional technical role or operational improvement.

Working out of Victrex Headquarters in Lancashire, you will be a key member of the Engineering Team working on short term operational improvements or long term projects as part of our capital investment programme. The programme will further the knowledge and skills gained at university as you tackle complex engineering challenges faced in chemical manufacturing operations and projects.

During the programme, you can expect to complete a minimum of 4 rotations, with experiences across the following areas:

Core rotations

  • Process/EC&I Engineering
  • Operations – Polymer manufacturing, Polymer downstream processing and Monomer manufacturing

Elective rotations (aligned to skill set)

  • Capital Projects
  • Maintenance Engineering
  • Supply Chain
  • Demand Planning
  • Procurement

In each role, you will receive outstanding on-the-job training and support from your colleagues, giving you an appreciation of different specialisms and how these areas of the organisation work together as part of the wider business. You will be given autonomy to own and lead project work whilst having day-to-day support from each rotation supervisor. Additionally, you will be assigned a buddy and mentor, both of whom will support your onboarding and continued development, respectively.

Alongside your rotations, you will be enrolled in our Career Catalyst Training Programme. This focuses on providing specialist career coaching to give you the best opportunity to springboard your career at Victrex. Furthermore, we support continued professional development through internal courses and selected external training. You will also have access to LinkedIn Learning, enabling you to develop a broad range of technical and interpersonal skills at any time.

Finally, Victrex recognises the benefits of professional registration, and therefore, we will actively support your chartership ambitions through mentorship and by paying for your annual subscription fees with your chosen institution.

Application requirements

  • You will be graduating with a minimum of a master’s degree (MEng), in one of the following engineering disciplines, with a degree classification of 2:1 or above:
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Process Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis.

Ideal applicants will apply their intellectual curiosity to solve complex design and engineering changes that drive our Engineering investment programmes. Strong analytical and communication (verbal and written) skills are essential to delivering on this programme. We also encourage proactivity in driving continuous improvement (CIP) across our working practices and business processes.

What's on offer?

With a starting salary of £33,500 plus sign-on and performance related bonuses, we offer an extremely competitive remuneration package for joiners of our Graduate Development Programme.
