Our Human Resources (HR) department within Volkswagen Financial Services work closely with all areas of the business to support them in delivering the people strategy. Our purpose is to enable our colleagues to reach their full potential, to support the company to build a reputation for outstanding customer service and, be the best automotive finance company in the UK.

We have three HR Undergraduate opportunities available, you could be supporting the Resourcing team, Learning and Development or the HR Operations team. As well as supporting these teams on a day-to-day basis you will have the opportunity to become involved in and manage various projects throughout your placement year.

HR is always evolving and this is an idea of what our current undergraduates have been doing: Managing employee Learning and Development needs and evolving the programmes and opportunities available, Planning and Managing the recruitment process for Early Careers including the next cohort of Undergraduates, conducting research to support ongoing Employee Relations strategies including, Diversity & Inclusion and supporting our Employee Engagement survey processes and Community Support activities.

What you could be doing

  • You will build some great relationships and have the opportunity to collaborate with your HR colleagues, your fellow Undergraduates, the wider business, candidates and suppliers as appropriate
  • You will provide core administration and coordination support for your team which will include managing mailboxes and telephones and responding to queries
  • Involvement in HR reporting and data analysis to support key decision making and monitor colleague activity
  • Proactively identify and offer support for process improvements within the department
  • Use your initiative to contribute to key projects within HR
  • You may also be processing invoices from external suppliers, coordinating team meetings, general filing to ensure HR records are stored in line with data protection legislation

What can you bring with you?

  • You will be enrolled at a University which offers a 1 year industrial placement
  • Have a proven record of academic success with an interest in HR
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to deal with a variety of tasks
  • You have a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • You use your own initiative to answer questions and solve queries
  • Able to research and pull information together to support projects and other initiatives
  • You will be able to communicate clearly with the business both verbally and in writing
  • MS Office proficiency, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • You are able to analyse, interpret data and communicate your findings

What to expect from the assessment process

Once you have decided our placement is for you, click the apply button and fill out some quick multiple-choice questions to support your application. We’ll be in touch shortly after receiving your application to advise if you have been progressed to the next stage. You will then be invited to complete an online video interview where you have the opportunity to tell us about you and your amazing qualities.

If you are successful after completing your video interview, you will be invited to attend an assessment centre at our Milton Keynes offices. Here, you will complete a Competency Based Interview, deliver a Presentation and take part in a Group Exercise. We’ll provide you with appropriate support and guidance before you attend.
