Wood Power Solutions UK (PSUK) is accepting applications from Electrical and Electronic Engineering students as part of our Year in Industry placement scheme to join the Electrical Engineering department in Horsham, West Sussex starting in September 2024.

The role

The Year in Industry placement opportunity provides flexibility as a hybrid role, working between home and our Horsham office. This role is perfect for BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering or MEng Electrical Engineering students whereby it is a course requirement to undertake a placement year during or after your studies.

Assuming the placement is a success, Wood will contribute to your final year University fees and offer a spot on our much-coveted Graduate program commencing September 2025, sending you into your final year of study with a bright future secured. Wood PSUK are also offering relocation support assistance to eligible students for the Year in Industry placement scheme.

What you will do

As a Year in Industry Student, you will have exposure to various parts of the business gaining vital skills. You will be involved in undertaking process design activities on Wood’s current projects. You will typically be required to assist with:

  • HV Cable selection;
  • HV cable routing and installation support; and
  • Cable system design checks.

Essential

  • Must be studying for a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or MEng in Electrical Engineering whereby it is a course requirement to undertake a placement year during or after your studies.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • High achieving undergraduate with the desire to learn who enjoys problem solving, troubleshooting, detailed analysis, be willing to embrace innovative ideas, and most importantly take on assignments where the approach or solution isn't known from the outset.
  • Enthusiasm to work and develop your career as a Cable System Engineer in Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrate initiative, tenacity, and excellent communication skills. 
  • Possess an ability to learn quickly and be adaptable and flexible to match business requirements.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team environments.
