Wood’s Energy and Flow Assurance (EFA) team within the Intelligent Operations service line is recruiting a Summer Intern to join our team in Staines on a short term PAYE basis.
We are seeking a motivated engineering student for a summer placement within our Flow Assurance team based in Staines. With a track record of delivering over 2,000 flow assurance projects for more than 200 clients globally, our team is recognised for its deep expertise in innovation and consulting, from design through operations and software development, to meet lifecycle needs, enhance production, and improve operability.
About the role
As a summer placement student, you will be mentored by one of our senior engineers and work with engineering teams on anything from small, fast-paced scopes to larger, major energy projects.
During your placement, you will have the opportunity to:
- Learn and apply simulation software to perform analyses in the areas of single phase and multiphase pipe flow, heat transfer, and thermodynamics, to support project design development.
- Assist in the development of in-house tools and programs, contributing to innovation and efficiency.
- Gain experience in technical report writing, enhancing your ability to communicate engineering insights clearly and professionally.
- Present and discuss technical results and design recommendations.
- Participate in internal workshops and training sessions, expanding your technical knowledge and professional network.
About you
- Strong desire to learn actively, innovate, and solve problems as part of a collaborative team.
- Currently pursuing a BEng or MEng in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with a good academic standing.
- Completion of at least one year of full-time engineering education.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong initiative and effective communication skills.
- Proven time management and organisational skills.
- Enthusiasm for working in diverse, multi-disciplinary team environments.
- Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
