Graduate insight into securing a finance internship with Goldman Sachs

Created on 12 Sep 2017

Earlier this year, Anesu completed a Spring Week at Goldman Sachs in the Finance Division, having applied for the role after finding out about it through the Bright Network website. She stopped by to meet us at the Bright Network Festival and collect a bottle of champagne for her success.

Why did you choose to take part in a Spring Week with Goldman Sachs?

Goldman Sachs is one of the top investment banks in the world so I was determined to secure an internship and learn more about the culture at the firm.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

The toughest part for me was writing the cover letter because I had to write it in a way which best represented me, my skills and why I would be suitable for Goldman Sachs.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

I was surprised that there were no screening tests. Most other banks require numerical tests or verbal reasoning tests which I wasn't very good at.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

Be outstanding in whatever you do. Show drive and determination. Be inquisitive.

What's your lucky charm?

Just being myself!
