Sophie is a Biochemistry student from Newcastle University. She secured a Publishing Assistant role at Springer Nature through Bright Network.
First, we’d love for you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
“I enjoy science, but less so the research side and more so the corporate side.
Publishing allows me to use my preferred skills of communication and project management whilst still having the opportunity to contribute to research progression.”
What was your application journey like?
“I prepared loads but ended up having a mental block on the day and thought my final interview went badly."
"If the company is a good place to work, they’ll allow for nerves and mess ups on the day as they understand everyone is human and gets nervous for these things.”
What motivated you to apply for your role?
"I've used Springer Nature articles a lot throughout my university projects, so I knew it was a reputable source of research publications."

"I then ended up getting invited to three interviews in the same week, I was offered two positions and took my role at Springer Nature, which I’m absolutely loving.”
What have you learned from going through the process?
"I have more confidence in myself and my professional and academic capabilities."
Tell us about the future. What's next?
