Advisory Board Proud to B

Book open Reading time: 2 mins

As we plan our inaugural LGBTQ+ event, Proud to B, Bright Network is excited to announce the formation of an Advisory Board to help guide and influence the event. In addition, the Board will inform the opportunities and resources we provide for our LGBTQ+ and ally members.

Proud to B, to be held on Friday 18th October 2019, will aim to provide an opportunity for a range of top employers and the best and brightest LGBTQ+ and ally members of Bright Network to be comfortable and confident as they enter the workplace. The event will showcase the commitment of employers to building inclusive communities where all employees can be their authentic selves

While the Bright Network full-time team will be responsible for final logistical decisions, securing the students and employers for the event and running and delivering the event on the day, the Advisory Board will play a central role in advising us and shaping the tone of the event. We envision that the Board will have key responsibilities for designing, promoting and part-delivering the event.

We want the Proud to B Advisory Board to

  • Advise on Bright Network’s inaugural Proud to B event
  • Provide advice on the event format as well as the look and feel
  • Use their skills, contacts and experience to help us promote and deliver a successful event
  • Play a leadership role in Bright Network’s efforts to promote inclusive workplaces

Bright Network will offer the members of the Proud to B Advisory Board

  • Opportunities to develop crucial skills that will look great on your CV – being in an advisory role, public speaking, event planning, communicating with top employers and senior leaders within those businesses
  • At least two or three thought-provoking planning and strategy meetings to design and inform the content of the event
  • The chance to expand your professional and social circles

We’re looking for our Proud to B Advisory Board to be made up of people who

  • Have ideas and enthusiasm for shaping the event and how we can engage and make it appealing for employers and students
  • Have experience in or an interest in learning about what it takes to plan and execute events
  • Are willing to work as a team to inform and advise in the creation of a successful event
  • Are passionate about their own personal and career development
  • Have the time to commit to two or three meetings (in-person or via an online conferencing tool) between July-September 2019 (meetings will be in central London, likely in the evenings, but members outside of London are still encouraged to apply – we will do our best to schedule a time that is mutually convenient for all Board members)
  • Able to attend the event on 18th October in central London

To apply, please fill out the application form by Friday 28th June at 11:59pm. For any questions, please contact events@brightnetwork.co.uk
