A day in the life of an Alpha Technology Services Developer

Book open Reading time: 2 mins

An average day as a developer in a fast-paced and project based environment like Alpha Technology Services can vary tremendously. We spoke with Olof to understand more about what his role entails...

One of the things I love about my job is the diversity. One day I might be working on the functionality of a technology for a client. The next I might be running demonstrations or a workshop where we gather client requirements and inputs to inform our development.

9am - I arrive at the office and spend some time sorting through emails, responding to anything that has come in overnight. I also take a look at what I have planned for the rest of the day.

10am - We have a product team catch up. This is where we'll share updates on activities and outcomes from the previous day, share important news with the team and flag any issues that have arisen. This is also a good chance to check that our individual work activities are aligned with the overall project plan.

11am - We might have a meeting with the Senior Director and Project Lead ahead of a demo in the afternoon. We spend the meeting demonstrating a part of the salesforce application we've been working on and making some final tweaks.

Midday - We break for lunch and I grab a sandwich from one of the many coffee shops located near our offices.

1pm - We kick off a demo with the client team and the client representatives. The team assess what we have produced and the demo prompts further developments and usability enhancements.

2pm - I spend the afternoon going through the tweaks that came out of the demo, starting work to get final functionality such as user storage signed off. The afternoon is spent checking the product we are developing continues to deliver what we set it out to - which is fun and challenging at the same time.

6pm - Home time...
