Diversity and inclusion at Atos: A graduate's perspective

Book open Reading time: 2 mins

Since joining Atos’ Service Delivery Graduate Programme in 2011, Julia has been on a fast-moving journey, resulting in her now being the Head of Communications for Atos UK&I. We wanted to delve further into why Julia chose Atos, how she was able to progress through the ranks so quickly, and what makes Atos' programmes stand out.

As you may be experiencing yourself, there can be an overwhelming number of graduate programmes on offer and it is extremely important that you choose the one best aligned with your own values and goals. Julia was attracted to Atos as she believes tech is the future, and being an international business with headquarters in France, Atos would offer excellent opportunities for travel and to learn about different cultures. Even during her first 18 months with the company, Julia had ample opportunity to travel to different areas of the UK and abroad, notably India to work on one client account.

From the moment Julia joined Atos, she was struck by how supportive the work environment was, and how evident the company values were in the day-to-day projects she was involved with. As part of the programme, graduates are put through a two-week induction programme where they can get to know the company as well as their fellow grads. Julia remains good friends with some people she met during these two weeks, demonstrating the close bonds formed between graduates during their time on the programme. Atos also provides regular training sessions and buddy schemes to help grads settle in and make an impact early in their career.

Julia notes that Atos is a dynamic, exciting environment and adaptability is crucial to succeed. If you work hard, you’ll find opportunities to contribute at an early stage and have a real impact on the business. One final thing that Julia sees as a huge benefit of working at Atos is the flexibility given to staff, to work in a way that suits them best, allowing them to be in control of their development in the company.

Julia's career path demonstrates the vast range of opportunities available at Atos. This allows graduates to start on a programme before choosing to specialise and work in an area of the business that they are most passionate about. By working hard and building her network, Julia has become an integral part of Atos and believes there is huge scope for recent graduates to do the same.
