We are a Disability Confident Committed employer and endeavour to create the best employee experience for all throughout the employee lifecycle.

Paving the Way
Paving the Way is our dedicated, firmwide initiative to increase the diversity of candidates entering the investment industry. Through the programme, we visit students in schools and universities to let them know about the world of finance, with particular focus on the broad range of careers that are available. Our volunteers are role models from a multitude of backgrounds, who work in roles across Man Group. We aim to show that with a focus on excellence, determination to build skills and a passion for what we do, the industry is open to everyone, regardless of their start in life.

I participated in the school speakers’ training programme to engage with younger audiences and inspire them to explore careers in finance. Many young people lack awareness of the diverse career paths available, which do not always follow traditional routes such as university. The programme enhanced my confidence in public speaking, storytelling, and effective communication. It was an insightful and rewarding experience, providing valuable feedback on areas for improvement, alongside learning practical speaking exercises and techniques for positive thinking. I also developed a greater understanding of tailoring content to the target audience, ensuring it is relevant, engaging, and impactful.

I’ve been at Man Group for 18 months now, having joined straight from university. I wanted to take part in the speaker training to be better equipped to give back, helping to de-mystify finance and markets for students whose shoes I was once in. The experience was great. It was helpful to see how more experienced volunteers at the firm but also “presentation professionals” handled the opportunity, including how to engage a challenging audience and make finance exciting! My key takeaways? Keep it simple, focus on your audience, and enthusiasm is contagious. I look forward to applying these skills going forward!
