Bright Network has teamed up with Aon once again for Diversity in Actuarial Consulting. Join us in October as leading insurance and financial services firm, Aon, provide Bright Network members with an incredible opportunity to connect with their teams to explore a new career path.

This series of events has been tailored to aid 50 of our brightest members from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) launch a successful career in actuary.

Through this event series, discover a role that can offer you excellent growth and discuss its potential with the experts themselves. Attendees of the series will be eligible to get fast-tracked to Aon’s assessment centres for one of their actuary internships or graduate programmes.

The Diversity in Actuarial Consulting series will comprise an introductory event, followed by 4 insight sessions where you can explore different aspects of the actuarial career path, understand what qualifications are needed and even practise your interview technique through a mock interview session. You'll also be paired with a mentor from Aon, whom you can meet with regularly to ask questions and receive tailored advice.

Friday 28th October, 10am - 3:00pm Welcome event at Aon’s London headquarters

Tuesday 1st November, 10:00 - 11:30am Virtual session 1

Wednesday 9th November, 14:00 - 15:30pm Virtual session 2

Tuesday 15th November, 11:00am - 12:30pm Virtual session 3

Monday 21st November, 11:00am - 12:30pm Virtual session 4

Plus, separate 1:1 sessions with your mentor to be organised at times to suit.

 

All of Aon's insight sessions will be approximately 1.25 hours, with a different topic being covered each week.

Please note: by applying for the event, you are committing to attending and participating in all of the sessions. You will need to attend and engage in all of the sessions to be eligible for the fast-tracked application process.

 

Who can attend?

  • Undergraduate Black, Asian and Ethnic minority (BAME) students studying a STEM degree at a UK university
  • 2023, 2024 and 2025 graduates looking for an internship, graduate scheme or industrial placement 
  • On track for a 2.1 or above and have demonstrated academic excellence throughout their education
  • Achieved an A in Maths at A-Level (or equivalent)
  • Who haven't already been unsuccessful in any application to Aon within the past year

Travel details:

The launch event on 28th October will take place at Aon's offices (The Leadenhall Building, 122 Leadenhall St, London EC3V 4AN). The subsequent insight sessions will take place virtually.

For travel to the launch event on 28th October, Aon will support expenses up to a maximum amount. More details will be shared if you are successful in gaining a place on the programme.
