Black Heritage Future Leaders is taking place on 26th September and is designed to support our Bright Network members in exploring different career paths in a variety of sectors, whilst introducing you to committed, inclusive employers. After the success of our previous Student Leadership Boards, we are delighted to announce that we're once again looking to collaborate with a group of 12 bright and ambitious students passionate about diversity and inclusion, as well as ensuring upwards social mobility.

By joining the Student Leadership Board, you'll take on an elevated role on the day during the networking sessions to help maximise the benefits of the event for yourself and other members, as well as have the chance to meet the Bright Network team and representatives from our partner firms before the event. 

It's a great opportunity to enhance your CV with valuable skills – leadership, communication, marketing, and networking, plus you'll gain additional exposure to some of our top partner firms.

What's new for this year, and why should you apply? 

  • Attend an exclusive Bright Network coaching session prior to the event to build on networking skills, confidence and public speaking
  • Be in with a chance to have one of your questions asked directly to the panel during the event
  • Recieve a personal certificate of participation for the Student Leadership Board
  • Have a professional headshot taken on the day of the event to use for your Linkedin profile
  • Get a pre-event content pack filled with materials and resources to support your time on the board

What will the role involve?

As a Student Leadership Board member, you will be taking a more influential role before and at the event. Your core responsibilities will be:

In advance

  • Attend one virtual pre-event meeting on the 14th September at 5pm
  • Support with spreading the word about Bright Network Black Heritage Future Leaders at your university, societies and posting on social media
  • Monitor the Black Heritage Future Leaders Guild group chat, helping members connect and engage with one another

On the day

  • Arrive at the venue at 11:30am
  • Attend a briefing with the Bright Network team on the day of the event 
  • Support with partner firm logistics and management before the event opens its doors 
  • Manage registrations and welcome attendees and partner firm representatives 
  • Lead networking and guide felllow attendees to have productive conversations with partner firms
  • Assist with virtual attendee engagement, offering advice to students seeking guidance on the wider university experience via the virtual platform Hopin (approximately 10 mins during the second networking session)

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for the Black Heritage Future Leaders Student Leadership Board to be made up of people who:

  • Are motivated and enthusiastic about maximising the event's impact for employers and students
  • Are confident to take on a leadership role during the event
  • Having familiarity with social media promotion would be a bonus but not essential
  • Have the time to commit to the virtual meeting prior to the event, taking place on the 14th September at 5pm
